Haul & Aux Mechanic

Bald Mountain is an open-pit mine with a large estimated mineral resource base located in Nevada. It is the newest mine in Kinross' portfolio and was acquired in January 2016.

Job Description

The mechanic is responsible for the general mechanical maintenance of haul trucks, graders/dozers, water trucks, while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross Way for Maintenance & Kinross' values.

Job Responsibilities

Obey all MSHA and KGBM safety rulesDisplays the ability to accurately diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical problems on heavy equipmentMake repairs in a timely fashion in order to get the job done and reduce downtimeOrder parts accurately, and complete all necessary paperwork involvedWork with Maintenance Personnel to repair mining equipment with the least amount of machinery downtime possible to effectively repair the equipmentAccurately troubleshoot all mechanical problems on machinery and parts to be repairedPerforms all work assigned to him in a safe, well managed manner and assures that the area is safe for mechanics and other employees to workReturns well-documented, and accurately completed work orders in a timely mannerKeeps in active communication with the Maintenance Supervisor and other crews to coordinate work and provide updates on work in progressCompliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, confidentiality and code of conductMeets or exceeds established performance expectations set by managementConsistently exercises discretion and judgment in job performanceWorks without risk or harm to self or othersPunctuality and regular attendance requiredHelps develop other department personnel to perform duties listed abovePerforms other related functions as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

7 years diesel repair experience is requiredDiesel Technician's Degree preferredShould have strong mechanical aptitude, and knowledge of all machinery under his/her maintenanceStrong knowledge in braking systems, steering systems, suspension systems, payload systems, compressed air systems, engine tune-up requirements, electronic engine controls, drive trains and electric drive haul truck braking/dynamic systemsAble to read and understand hydrological and electrical schematicsMust have a working knowledge of all tools and equipment necessary to work in the Maintenance DepartmentMust be proficient with CMMS system, JDE plusMust be able to solve problems effectively in a variety of areas, including mechanical issuesAbility to work in a team environment with minimal supervisionAbility to perform basic welding and cuttingAblitly to operate various equipment including forklifts and service trucksAbility to work in all weather conditionsPossesses good communication and interpersonal skillsGeneral understanding of mining operations, as well as limited understanding of milling and maintenance operationsWorking knowledge and skill with P.C. utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation softwareStrong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management Ability to work independently and as a member of the management teamDemonstrates strong administrative, organizational and technical writing skillsMust be 18 years old and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full time basis
