Research Lab Technician I

The Laboratory of Immunoregulation in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine seeks a Research Technician I position to join its multi-disciplinary research team. Under direct supervision, the technician will assist in various research projects to understand molecular mechanisms of innate immunity and treatment of infectious diseases, auto-immune disorders, and cancer. The position will require rodent animal handling and occasional flexible work hours to meet the demands of the experimental protocols and processing timelines.
Responsibilities:
Prepares experimental materials using laboratory protocols and safety guidelinesSets up and operates standard laboratory equipmentMaintains laboratory environment in orderly, operable conditionHandles and disposes of hazardous and non-hazardous materials in accordance with safety protocolsPrepares chemical solutions under the direction of experienced technical staffAssists in rodent animal handling such as weighing, treatments, and tissue collection and processingStocks, maintains and order laboratory supplies as neededMaintains accurate records of procedures used to conduct basic experimentsPerforms routine analysis and provides basic interpretationsLearns basic laboratory safety and under the direction of USC Safety Office complete training for laboratory requirements (such as blood borne pathogens, biosafety, and radiation as needed)Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
