About the Role

We're hiring a Founding Designer to take our platform to launch and beyond, owning the entire design stack and playing an instrumental role in defining the future product roadmap of the company alongside the founding team.

What You'll Do
  • Design our core product – from major product features, to the interactions that leave users smiling. You'll own all consumer- and business-facing experiences Kinn brings to the market.
  • Prototype visual and UX concepts, and drive the process to identify the right design choices for our product
  • Inspire the team by bringing new ideas to the table, leading design sprints and advocating for our users
  • Optimize the user experience through best practices, experimentation, and empirical data gathered through analytics and/or user testing
  • Pitch in on many surprising, daily challenges that come up in an early-stage start up
What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years of design experience, with at least 2+ years designing for consumer-facing digital products
  • Entrepreneurial mindset - you are low ego, highly intelligent, and a quick learner eager to roll up your sleeves and tackle any tasks. As part of an early stage team, you'll sometimes wear multiple hats including working with our customers.
  • Strong communicator - you use storytelling and communication skills to clearly articulate design decisions, leveraging user research and data
  • Ability to switch contexts - you can jump between consumer-facing and business-facing design work.
  • Curiosity - you are eager to understand and learn more about the customers and ecosystem you're building in.
  • Creativity - you have an opinionated visual style and are often described as someone who 'thinks outside of the box'
Nice to have
  • Experience working in commerce or social media is nice to have, but by no means a requirement
  • Experience creating and iterating on design systems
  • We are remote friendly, but bonus points if you can work 2-3 days per week in our New York office
  • A passion for shopping and the future of commerce
