Library & Information Science
for Fall 2024 (one semester only).

Adjunct Faculty are employed on a per-course basis, usually for no more than twelve credits per academic year. Service as an adjunct does not count toward promotion and tenure.

Responsibilities Included:

Adjunct faculty course instructors will be responsible for teaching and student evaluation for course(s) within their areas of expertise, in an online format, to students. In addition, the adjunct didactic course instructors may collaborate with, provide direction to, and supervise face-to-face lab instructors for labs associated with any course for which they are responsible.
  • Develop syllabus and course curriculum for LIS 7030 Organization of Knowledge.
  • Teach one online class in Fall 2024 semester.
  • Educate and support students in their classroom.
  • Communicate respectfully and build relationships of trust with people of all cultures and abilities.
  • Foster a culture of inclusive excellence through authentic relationships with students as an educator and a mentor.
  • Monitor and assess student-learning outcomes and provide timely and frequent feedback to students on academic performance.
  • Monitor curriculum content and make recommendations as appropriate to maintain relevance.
  • Consistent with the university's Catholic identity, its commitment to women, diversity, inclusion, social justice, and dedication to a liberal arts-based curriculum, faculty are expected to manifest these themes in their teaching and practice experiences.
Course Available:

LIS 7030 Organization of Knowledge -
Online with some synchronous instruction. Fridays 6:00-8:30pm preferred.

Students in this course will examine the conceptual and theoretical frameworks for organizing and retrieving information, with special attention to organizational systems' objectives, structures, formats, standards, and vocabularies. Students will practice interpreting and using bibliographic description standards, subject languages, classification schemes, and encoding and transmission protocols.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master of Library & Information Science, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated expertise in cataloging and classification techniques, tools, and methodologies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Teaching experience (1 or more years).
