Muslim Chaplain
position in the
Center for Spirituality and Social Justice
department.

The Muslim Chaplain provides spiritual support and leadership for Muslim members of the University community; and functions as a resource for faculty and staff seeking assistance to better serve Muslim members of the University community.

Responsibilities:
  • Attend individual and group meetings with Muslim students, faculty, and staff members of the University for religious and cultural support.
  • Collaborate with Muslim community members to plan programs and experiences that are specific to the growth and development of Muslim faith and religious practice.
  • Act as a resource consultant for faculty, staff, and students who wish to learn more about the Islamic faith, and may need specialized advice to better support the educational experience of Muslim students.
  • Work as a team member of the Center for Spirituality and Social Justice staff in service to the University community.
  • Foster relationships with others community members by participating in large university events

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Muslim faith tradition
  • Bachelors degree in Religious Studies, Theology, Human Services or related field
  • 2 years working with young adults in educational settings
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with students in higher educational institutions
  • Experience working in a Mosque or Religious Studies/Interfaith setting
