Job Description

Idaho State University is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be a recent graduate with a degree in accounting, eager to apply their academic knowledge in a dynamic and collaborative work environment. The Accountant will play an important role in supporting financial operations, ensuring accuracy in financial transactions, and contributing to the overall fiscal responsibility of the institution.

Key Responsibilities


• Process feeds from systems external to Finance.

Financial Data Entry and Maintenance:

• Accurately input financial data into the accounting system.

• Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records.

• Monitor and follow up on department receipts and outstanding receivables.

Bank Reconciliation:

• Conduct daily and monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy in financial statements.

• Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.

• Research ACH deposits.

• Create and process Journal Entries.

• Support month-end and year-end process.

Financial Reporting:

• Assist in the preparation of financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.

• Ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulatory requirements.

Audit Assistance:

• Support internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and information.

• Participate in audit preparation activities.

Ad Hoc Projects:

• Contribute to special projects as assigned by the Finance Manager.

• Assist in the continuous improvement of financial processes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's

    degree in Accounting OR at least eight years of professional experience performing

    accounting duties and responsibilities.
  • At least one year of professional experience processing financial transactions, preparing and submitting invoices for payment, matching payments to invoices, or other similar account reconciliation experience.
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Higher Education/ ERP work experience.


Additional Information

will be given to applications received prior to February 25, 2024. Salary will be between $48,000 to $52,000 per year,

commensurate with education and experience. Benefits include comprehensive

conditional pending the successful completion of a background investigation,
