Director, Nonferrous Metals Analysis

The Team:

You will work with metal analysts on our growing commodity pricing team primarily based in London, UK, and Washington, DC. The team at S&P Global collaborates with supply chain organizations worldwide to provide essential price and cost analysis, aiding companies in achieving significant cost savings. By analyzing the cost structures of clients' suppliers, we offer detailed insights into prices and costs, giving clients a strategic edge in negotiations and purchasing decisions.

The Impact:

In this role, you will predict and track nonferrous metals prices amid evolving global supply and demand trends, offering consistent leadership to a team of 3-4 metal analysts. Your work will support global supply chain organizations in industries like energy, construction, manufacturing, and retail, helping them leverage metal price fluctuations for advantageous business decisions.

What's in it for you:

As the primary analyst for nonferrous metals, specifically aluminum, you will shape buying strategies for our global supply chain clients. Aside from forecasting prices, you will communicate your insights to clients through presentations, webcasts, and podcasts. We are seeking a candidate who can drive thought leadership within the metals team, contributing to a comprehensive global outlook in the S&P Global Market Intelligence division alongside 3-4 analysts.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, analyze, and forecast nonferrous metal prices with a focus on aluminum
  • Present price outlooks to supply chain/procurement clients
  • Develop leadership within a team of 3-4 nonferrous metals analysts
  • Address clients' research inquiries with unbiased and timely insights
  • Contribute to forecast model development, including equation estimation
  • Produce reports focusing on the upcoming year's outlook and fundamental drivers
  • Support business development initiatives

Compensation/Benefits Information:

The expected salary range for this position is $126,192 to $156,283, tailored to factors like location, experience, and qualifications. The role also includes an annual incentive plan and additional S&P Global benefits.

What We're Looking For:

  • A motivated and enthusiastic metals analyst
  • 8-10 years of experience analyzing the global metals market
  • Ability to present complex ideas clearly to diverse audiences
  • Degree in Economics or related field
  • Strong research, analytical, and statistical modeling skills
  • Proficiency in EViews is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Customer-focused background
