History Teacher

Miller School of Albemarle seeks an enthusiastic and knowledgeable History teacher to join our faculty for the school year. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching a variety of history courses including, but not limited to, Human Civilizations, World History, AP World History, and AP Human Geography. The candidate should demonstrate a desire to work as a team player and take on an active role in the vibrant Miller School community. The candidate should be inspired by the mission of Miller School and embrace the opportunity to serve as an example of our "mind, hands, and heart" philosophy for our students.

Outside the classroom, the position includes 2 seasons of coaching a sport and/or leading a co-curricular activity, acting as an advisor to a group of 8-9 students, and serving on a supervisory duty team.

The ideal candidate will have:

• A bachelor's degree in History or a related field is required; a postgraduate degree is preferred.
• Experience teaching a wide range of History and Social Science courses at the high school level is required.
• Experience teaching AP History courses preferred.
• Willingness to teach departmental elective courses, such as World Religions, is required.
• Experience creating a student-centered learning environment with preferred experience in project based learning and differentiated instruction
• A passion for working with young people.
• Relevant athletic or cocurricular experience that will contribute meaningfully to MSA's after-school programming.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, along with the ability to integrate technology into the classroom.
