Summary

This position is located in the Great Plains Area Indian Health Service, with the incumbent serving as Optometrist for the Woodrow Wilson Keeble Memorial Health Care Center in Sisseton, SD. The purpose of this position is to provide direct and comprehensive primary, preventive and therapeutic medical and optometric care to individuals across the lifespan.



Duties
  • Independently diagnoses all optometric and ocular problems through external and internal physical evaluation of the eye and surrounding tissue. Refers patients requiring complex medical surgery or services to appropriate medical specialty.
  • Provides vision and eye care education and counseling to patients.
  • Takes complete history from the patient and/or family member to determine risk of eye disease. Records all patient care examinations, assessments, procedures and care plans.
