Summary

This position is located in the Mid-Atlantic Region, Fleet Readiness department in the Fitness/Sports and Deployed Support Department at Naval Weapons Station Sports Zone Fitness Center in Yorktown, VA.

The purpose of this position is to provide a variety of support duties to operate fitness, sports, or aquatic facilities as needed.

This position is for a Small-Low (501-1,500) military installation IAW CNIC Fitness standards.

Duties

Assists the Fitness Director to plan, arrange and execute activities for military, civilians, and family members in the facilities assigned.

Incumbent may explain and assist patrons in the use of the facilities, ensuring safe and proper handling of facilities and sports equipment.

Assures officials for sporting events are scheduled and available on time. Is responsible for and assists in maintaining cleanliness of facilities prior to, during, and after use. Assists in the opening and/or closing of facilities ensuring building security before closing at the end of the day.

Responsible to review scheduled events to ensure facilities are prepared prior to scheduled start times.

Check ID cards to ensure that only authorized patrons are utilizing facilities assigned.

May answer telephone and personal questions providing excellent customer service skills.

Circulates among the patrons to assist in basic use of equipment and to maintain good order of discipline.

Cleans and maintains facilities, performing janitorial services to ensure interior spaces are clean, neat and orderly at all times.

Sweep, mops, dusts, and cleans workout rooms, mirrors, bathrooms and locker areas as necessary.

Accounts for individual and unit issue of sports equipment by proper issue and turn-in procedures. Maintains and updates reservation schedules for facilities and sports fields to prevent schedule conflicts.

Prepares and updates records/tables and ongoing intramural sports activities.

Prepares, distributes, and posts publicity announcements of sports events and programs. Inventories sports equipment and follows-up on discrepancies.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
