The Hennepin Healthcare Research Institute's (HHRI) Chronic Disease Research Group (CDRG - ) has a current opening for a PhD level Biostatistician to support their work in organ donation and transplantation research including the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients (SRTR -). Experience in a medical and/or research setting is highly desirable, as is PhD level training as a biostatistician.

This is a fully remote position, however there are the 12 states that Hennepin Healthcare will hire remote employees from: Arizona, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Dakota, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, and Wisconsin.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Biostatistician will design and execute statistical analyses on complex clinical and administrative data; create written reports and presentations summarizing statistical analyses; lead or participate in writing manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed medical/statistical journals; prepare abstracts for submission to medical/statistical conferences and present papers as needed; participate in the design and development of web-based presentations of data and analyses; and create project time estimates and status information.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Analyze complex clinical and administrative data
    • Calculate/conduct statistical analyses using R.
    • Interpret results of analysis for internal and external stakeholders.
    • Maintain currency with statistical methods and literature.
    • Contribute to the development of departmental methodological and analytic standards
    • Lead statistical analysis projects, providing guidance to teammates as required.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and manuscripts
    • Prepare written reports and presentations summarizing statistical methods, analyses, and results.
    • Present analyses to internal and external stakeholders as needed.
    • Prepare abstracts and presentations for medical/statistical conferences.
  • Participate in the design and development of web-based presentations of data and analyses
    • Design interactive, web-based applications with various statistical functionalities using tools like R Shiny
    • Work with software and design engineers as required.
  • Create project time estimates and status information

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:

Education/Experience:

Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. Typical qualifications would be a PhD in biostatistics, statistics, or related field. 5-8 years of extensive experience in providing statistical consulting to medical researchers, particularly in the application of survival and longitudinal data analysis. Extensive experience with statistical programming languages R (required) and SAS (preferred). Experience with information systems and relational databases. Background in life sciences preferred, as is a PhD in biostatistics.

Skill, Knowledge & Ability (SKA):

Requires interaction with a diverse population. Must have advanced skills in statistical computing with R (required) and SAS (preferred). Must have knowledge of software and system engineering disciplines, structured system/software development methodologies, computer hardware/peripherals, database technology, project management, and estimating techniques. Must have the ability to provide strong technical leadership in the development of studies, work effectively in a small team programming environment, demonstrate effective oral and written communication, and possess good listening skills. Displays high standards of attendance, punctuality, maintains confidentiality, and manages time effectively.

Ability to obtain and hold a Public Trust Investigation. If not a U.S. Citizen applicant must have lived in the United States 3 of the past 5 years.
