Overview



The Senior Associate Dean for Faculty Well-Being will report to the Vice Dean for Faculty Affairs and serve as a critical member of the Office of Faculty Affairs. The Senior Associate Dean will partner with the Dean, Vice Dean, and Advocate Health system clinical leadership to develop and lead well-being initiatives with the goal of improving the professional experience (including physical, mental, and emotional well-being) for a broad range of stakeholders. This leader will play a pivotal role in promoting and enhancing the overall well-being, resilience, experience, and satisfaction of faculty within Wake Forest University School of Medicine (WFUSM). This position involves developing and implementing comprehensive well-being programs, aligned with Advocate Health enterprise Well-being and Experience philosophy, strategies, goals, tactics, and analytics and the institution's "Best Place to Care" initiatives. This position will collaborate with key stakeholders in fostering a positive and supportive culture empowered by psychological safety and ensure a healthy and thriving learning and working environment.

Duties



Strategic Planning: Develop and implement a strategic vision for well-being initiatives aligned with the mission and values of WFUSM and collaborate with senior leadership across WFUSM faculty, learners, and Advocate Health to integrate well-being into the overall clinical, research, education, and service goals.



Program Development: Design, implement, and manage comprehensive well-being programs for WFUSM faculty, identifying and addressing the unique well-being challenges faculty experience in different environments across WFUSM and Advocate Health . Actively contribute to and integrate with Advocate Health's broader enterprise well-being strategy and well-being programs, fostering a collaborative and interconnected approach to improving the well-being of faculty members.



Inclusive Well-being and Mental Health Support: Work closely with available support resources and services to meet diverse needs of WFUSM faculty, including but not limited to mental health programs and equity, diversity, justice, and inclusion initiatives.



Work-Life Integration: Implement initiatives to promote WFUSM faculty work-life integration and reduce burnout and reduce turnover among faculty, developing programs and policies to support well-being, aligned with overall enterprise well-being strategy.



WFUSM Community Engagement: Foster a sense of community and connection among WFUSM faculty and other constituents, organizing events, workshops, and activities to promote well-being, connection, and camaraderie.



Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with various departments, within WFUSM and across the health system, to integrate well-being into all aspects of faculty academic experiences, communicating regularly with stakeholders to assess needs, gather feedback, and provide updates on well-being initiatives.



Reporting Data and Insights: Develop relevant reports and metrics to measure and monitor the impact of well-being programs for WFUSM faculty. Responsible for partnering with Advocate Health Data & Insights team for data management and utilizing data to inform well-being strategies and measures of success.



Scholarship: Contribute to scholarly products and work to increase WFUSM and presence and preeminence nationally.



Enterprise Integration: Ensure alignment of WFUSM's approach and programming with the broader strategy of Advocate Health. This role plays a key part in integrating WFUSM faculty well-being initiatives into the larger enterprise framework, facilitating the exchange of best practices and fostering synergy for mutual success.

Key Characteristics



Qualified candidates are those who possess a terminal (MS, PhD or MD) degree with knowledge and experience in well-being. Administrative academic and clinical experience is preferred. Candidate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills as well as strong organizational and time management skills. This position also requires the ability to collaborate and a commitment to teamwork. Candidate must be able to mentor and advise constituents, as well as solicit needs and develop programs and materials that meet needs.



The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in advancing a culture of well-being; ability to work with and support a diverse community; a track record of strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive professional relationships with diverse stakeholders at all levels in complex, highly dynamic environment; be strategically minded, able to think creatively around program goals and the steps necessary to achieve those goals; ability to act deliberately in sensitive situations; demonstrate strong conflict management skills; possess sound judgment and ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism; and demonstrate the ability to lead and to develop professional staff teams.
