The time is right to join HNTB's growing Design Build (DB) Organization We are seeking candidates for a Design-Build - Engineer III. This individual will be responsible for producing and modifying design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans, and specifications for alternative delivery projects. This position works directly with the project manager to perform research, development, calculations, design and delivery. This individual will apply engineering techniques, procedures and design criteria for complex projects ranging in size from $100M to $2.5B in construction cost. Leverages technical knowledge, experience and client relationships to assist in the execution and evaluation of project designs. Develops conceptual and detailed designs and calculations to support the project execution using current drawing and technical tools, programs and software. May mentor, train and review work of junior engineer staff and provide constructive feedback. As a team member, you will contribute to the successful project delivery for a diverse range of projects for HNTB's clients.

What You'll Do:

  • Completes assigned work within the schedule and number of hours provided.
  • Assist in the development of project specifications.
  • Responsible for development of discipline specific engineering project elements/deliverables such as reports, designs, and plans.
  • Aids in the coordination and productivity of project team members.
  • Provides technical guidance to less experienced engineering project team members.
  • Works closely with other disciplines and on multi-discipline projects.
  • Performs quality control reviews of discipline - specific engineering project elements/deliverables.
  • Assists with coordination and planning of schedules, hours, and distribution of work within discipline.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience, or
  • Master's degree in Engineering and 3 year of relevant experience, or
  • PhD in Engineering and 2 years of relevant experience

What You'll Bring:

  • Working directly with the project manager to solve a variety of challenges that are faced daily on a design build project
  • Performing interdisciplinary coordination to reach design solutions and develop an integrated design.
  • Coordinating with clients, owners, and other stakeholders to deliver successful projects.
  • Expanding technical, leadership, and communication skills to become an effective project manager.
  • Further developing engineering knowledge of other disciplines on various transportation projects.
  • Assisting in development of project workplans including scope, schedule, and fee
  • Supporting change management through early change identification and producing requisite documentation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What We Prefer:

  • Master's degree in Engineering
  • 8 years relevant experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification
  • Strong communication skills, including written technical reports and oral presentations
  • 3D Integrated design experience
  • Alternative delivery experience
  • Travel as required to support project delivery

The approximate pay range for Los Angeles Metro Area and Orange County, CA is $91, $142, Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.
