JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Microbiology and Immunology, in Hershey, PA is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar.


The successful applicant will have a strong background in virology, particularly herpesvirology and will be expected to design, conduct, interpret and produce publication quality data in the field of herpesvirus replication and pathogenesis.

Expertise in experimental techniques required includes molecular biology (particularly construction of recombinant viruses), protein biology (western blots, protein purification, immunoprecipitation, proximity ligation assay etc), imaging and fluorescence quantification (wide field, deconvolution and confocal microscopy, flow cytometry etc).

Successful applicant will also be expected to mentor graduate students, rotating students and undergraduates under the guidance of the Principal Investigator.

An ability to critically review the scientific literature, present data well orally and to produce quality drafts of scientific data that can readily be used to produce manuscripts for publication.


Educational Requirements:
Ph.
D. or equivalent.

This is a limited term appointment funded for one year from the date of hire.
