The clinician practices in Mental Health (MH) Service as a Psychiatric Mental Health APN/Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to provide a full range of services emphasizing quality, timeliness, and the advancement of the VA mission.

The clinician provides advanced clinical practice, consultation, and management. The clinician practices to the full extent of their education, training, and certification.

Major duties/responsibilities(but not limited to):
Program Management
Supervisory Duties as assigned

Uses advanced clinical judgment to independently provide evidence-based treatment to Veterans with acute or chronic mental illness including use of psychotropic medications, psychotherapy, and other modalities.

Provides patient and family education on medical/mental health conditions, preventive measures, and prescribed treatments.

Demonstrates leadership and engages in collaboration with other mental health and specialty care professionals while involving Veterans and their families (as appropriate), in treatment plan development.

Assesses and adjusts the plan of care as needed to achieve optimal patient outcomes
Counsels and treats patients with substance use disorders.
Orders and interprets diagnostic studies
Initiates referrals/consults to specialty services

Pay:
Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards

Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program.

You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.

Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
