Supervises : N/A

FSLA Status: Full-Time; Exempt

Purpose of the Position: Provide instruction to students and assessment of their progress.

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Establish and maintain positive, professional learning relationships with students.
  2. Facilitate learning experiences for students within a given class session; full-time teachers are assigned 5 sections.
  3. Provide intervention and support for struggling students.
  4. Provide acceleration opportunities for excelling students.
  5. Communicate regularly with parents regarding students' progress in line with school policies.
  6. Maintain online grade books and class sites according to school-wide and departmental policies.
  7. Collaborate with Counseling Department on planning and implementation of Academic Plans for individual students.
  8. Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors on departmental and school-wide initiatives as designated by Department Chair and/or Upper Administration
  9. Participate in the Department's annual goal setting and State of Dept. Report
  10. Actively engage in the school community as outlined in contractual obligations and school policies.
  11. Charts individual professional growth plan in cooperation with supervisor(s).
  12. Seeks out ongoing professional development in line with supervisors' recommendations.
  13. Adhere to all professional expectations as outlined in the specific Department Handbook and general Faculty/Staff Handbook.     • Minimum requirement of bachelor's degree in discipline to be taught, Master's Degree or higher preferred, prior teaching experience preferred, openness to participate in student life as class moderator or retreat leader highly desirable.
