The E-Commerce Risk Control (ECRC) team's mission is:

  1. To protect TikTok e-commerce users, including and beyond buyer, seller, creator;
  2. To make TikTok e-commerce the safest and most trusted place worldwide to transact online by securing the integrity of the e-commerce ecosystem and providing a safe shopping experience on the platform;
  3. Through building software systems, risk models and operational processes, as well as collaborating with many cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

The ECRC team works to prevent and detect any risk attempts in TikTok e-commerce platforms (e.g. TikTok Shop) and to mitigate the negative impact on our customers and Selling Partners (SPs), covering multiple classical and novel business risk areas such as account integrity, incentive abuse, malicious activities, brushing, click-farm, information leakage etc.

We achieve our mission by:

  1. Developing state-of-the-art Machine Learning (ML) solutions to prevent customers, SPs, and TikTok from being impacted by bad actors' actions and practices to gain unfair business advantages;
  2. Empowering TikTok teams, both internal to GNE and external, to reduce risk attempts by utilizing our mechanisms.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement innovative machine learning algorithms to manage business risks in TikTok's products and platforms.
  2. Prototype and explore novel solutions, conduct experiments to validate hypotheses, and provide insights to Product and Tech teams.
  3. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance current automation processes.
  4. Build efficient data querying infrastructure for real-time and offline analysis. Identify opportunities to strengthen risk defense solutions.
  5. Define risk control metrics and promote data-driven practices. Align teams and stakeholders on numeric goals for risk control.
  6. Document technical processes and effectively communicate results through writing, visualizations, and presentations.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Operations Research, or related fields.
  2. Current or recent graduate with a background in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  3. Proficiency in modern machine learning theories and applications, including ensemble trees, deep neural networks, transfer/multi-task learning, reinforcement learning, graph theory, and unsupervised learning.
  4. Experience with Python, SQL/Hive, and Hadoop.
  5. Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms, with excellent problem-solving ability.
  6. Detail oriented, effective time management, and strong analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Demonstrated software engineering experience from previous internship, work experience, coding competitions, or publications.
  2. Internship experience or research experience, especially in e-commerce, risk control domain.
  3. Curiosity towards new technologies and entrepreneurship.
  4. High levels of creativity and quick problem-solving capabilities.

Job Information:

For Pay Transparency

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $ $144000 annually. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location.
