Duties
  • Serves as a manager and performs supervisory duties 20% or less of the time.
  • Develops and implements Cache Management and Inventory Management Plans supporting the National Interagency Support Cache (NISC) while providing for the integration of fire management needs at the geographical level to insure mission accomplishments.
  • Collaborates with internal and external contacts to formulate national standards for supplies, equipment, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitors, evaluates, and provides Fire Loss information and reports on all Type 1, 2, and 3 incidents.
  • Develops and maintains fire cache management and incident support policies, guidelines, and standards for consistency with accepted principles and practices.
  • Plans the work to be accomplished, establishes production or quality standards, and identifies developmental and training. Determines the need for and assignment of additional personnel as workload fluctuates, as well as approves emergency hires.
  • Manages the budget for functional areas of an incident support cache. Maintains accurate records of work completed, materials used, and costs involved in compliance with established fire cache management and inventory plans.
  • Maintains security and accountability of all supplies and equipment. Provides input of loss mitigation plans related to fire loss.

Specialized Experience Requirement:

Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal Service.

Specialized experience is defined as three or more of the following: Planning, budgeting, administering, and managing an incident support cache; and/or Providing support to functional areas, such as supplies, storage and distribution, supply systems development, hazardous materials, and small engine repair; and/or Evaluating personnel, budget, and material resource requirements to develop project work plans; and/or Participating in the review and evaluation of cache and inventory program operations to plan for adequacy, efficiency, and safety; and/or Coordinating the procurement, receipt, manufacturing, storage, management, packaging, shipment, return, and/or refurbishment of supplies and equipment needs for emergency operations.

TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
