Overview

Nurse Assistant II, Downtown Health Plaza (OB/GYN), Full-time 8 hr. Days, Monday - Friday, Winston-Salem

Duties include but are not restricted to rooming of patients, assisting with chaperoning, completing intake of patients, and working with a multidisciplinary team to meet the need of the patient.

JOB SUMMARY: Provides assistance to clinical staff through basic nursing care for the population of a specific clinic or location. Provides direct and indirect care through physician and nursing orders to achieve the highest standards of age/developmental specific care. May also deliver specific patient treatments in addition to basic nursing care.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Completion of a North Carolina State approved Nurse Aide I course. Completion of a North Carolina Board of Nursing approved Nurse Aide II course or nursing student listed as a Nurse Aide II.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: Current listing with the North Carolina Board of Nursing as a Nurse Aide II. Current listing with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Service Regulation of Nurse Aide I Registry. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCSL) required. Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) may be required within one year in select areas.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Complies with the Medical Center mission, vision, and values as well as the philosophy of the Department of Nursing and Service line standards in caring for patients. 2. Assists medical staff with preparation, examination, and procedure to include performing patient history interview/screening to obtain personal data and chief complaint, documentation for records, and vital signs. 3. Participates in the implementation of the nursing process by giving direct care to patients under the direction of the RN or LPN. 4. Ensures complete, accurate and timely communication of patient information. 5. Communicates to the team, colleagues, patients and family members in an effective, positive and professional manner. 6. Takes personal responsibility and initiative for performance and for professional growth and development. 7. Sets up, cleans, restocks, and prepares examination rooms. Prepares equipment, autoclave, sterilizer, and maintain treatment areas. 8. Collects and processes specimens for diagnostic testing according to policy. 9. Complies with Medical Center Infection Prevention policies to manage infectious materials using aseptic techniques, sanitization, chemical disinfection, surgical asepsis, and correct handling of biohazardous materials. 10. Performs and maintains competency for point of care testing as assigned, ensuring compliance with WFBH Point of Care policies and with applicable state and federal regulations. 11. Provides age/developmental appropriate patient care in accordance with age/developmental specific care guidelines for the clinical population served. 12. Performs other related duties incidental to work described herein.
