Mission:

We are looking for a Key Account Manager, dealing with OEMs and TIER 1 customers to implement the sales strategies driving long-term customer relationship to achieve the goals of growth and profitability. The role has the potential to develop into a leadership sales position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and execution of the customer strategies
  • Lead the process related to customer requests for quotation (RFQ) from receiving customer input documentation, running internal feasibility study, presenting and approving internally, to submitting the quote to the customer and negotiating the business opportunity until customer sourcing decision
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth and up to date understanding of the customer, including its market position, vehicle strategy, commodity purchasing, competitor activities, organization, etc.
  • Develop a relationship and network throughout the customer
  • Represent the business at the customer
  • Monitor the customer's perception of the business in conjunction with Engineering, Quality and supply chain and agree on actions to address perception issues
  • Support plants with their customer relationships
  • Represent the customer within the business providing the necessary information to the relevant functions and tracking responses to customer issues
  • Maintain a pricing database and communicate it to the relevant internal functions
  • Provide input to the account planning process, e.g. 5YP, budget processes
  • Lead customer negotiations such as material recovery, design changes, changes in supplier base, move of production, tariffs and contract/annual pricing negotiations.
  • Prepare and agree sales plan/tactics ahead of the negotiation seeking the necessary approval
  • Manage customer agreements, contracts and licenses - request internal legal support when required
  • Support Customer marketing initiative (roadshows, benchmark, etc.)
  • Manage specific tasks as requested by the customer director
  • Ensure to proceed in line to company policy, e.g. health and safety, environmental, etc.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Degree in Engineering or Manufacturing - potentially also combined with economic or finance studies
  • Team Player with strong willingness to drive results and problem solving ability
  • 3+ years' experience in Automotive sector - ideally with a proven track record at Tier 1 supplier
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to details combined with excellent Excel skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English)
  • Comfortable preparing business cases and analyzing financial scenarios
  • Customer-facing experience, like negotiation skills, high motivation
  • Global mindset

Location: Greater Detroit area.
