Summary

This position is located in Cumberland Island National Seashore, in the Resource Management Division.

Duties

As a Wildlife Biologist, you will perform the following duties:

  • Developing and preparing segments of the park resources management plan dealing with wildlife resources.
  • Attending management and professional conferences for the purpose of exchanging information, presenting technical and policy information, and advancing advocacy for park stewardship.
  • Coordinating the park's wildlife management strategies and programs with those on adjacent lands for the purposes of achieving broad ecosystem protection strategies and preventing human impacts.
  • Writing new monitoring documents that define monitoring techniques.
  • Developing and conducting scientifically credible protection, mitigation, and restoration projects.
  • Maintaining the integrity of native animal communities, critical habitat, and physical resources and to minimize human activities that impact resources.
  • Performing data collection using the appropriate technology.
  • Preparing environmental assessments (EAs) for projects incompliance with the National Environmental Policy Act.
  • Acquiring and maintaining equipment and supplies necessary to conduct field activities.
  • Preparing and maintaining specimens in the natural history collection.
