Summary

This position is located in the Legal Division, Resolution & Receivership Branch, Resolution & Receivership Policy Section of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in Washington, D.C.

The Assistant General Counsel manages the planning, coordinating, and executing of FDIC's legal policy and program initiatives in the areas of receivership operations, receivership policy, and special issues.

Salary reflects a pay cap for this position of $310,000.



Duties
  • Represents the Corporation in inter-agency task forces, committees and working groups on legal aspects of corporate policy pronouncements.
  • Oversees the effective management of substantive and administrative matters arising out of the failure of a failed financial institution or an FDIC appointment as conservator or receiver of insured failed financial institutions.
  • Coordinates the negotiation and consummation of settlements, workouts, and restructures that arise out of the liquidation of failed financial institutions.
  • Manages or personally provides legal advice and assistance, primarily to the Division of Resolutions and Receiverships and Division of Complex Institution Supervision and Resolution, arising from the FDIC's role as receiver or conservator of failing or failed institutions as well as other Divisions or Offices that may be involved.
  • Prepares and presents (or supervises subordinate staff in the preparation and presentation of) cases to the FDIC Board of Directors.
