Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Responsible Supervisor: HOS

Summary:

Under the direction of the head of school, the art teacher will be responsible for instructing student's grades 5 through 8. The art teacher will develop in each student an interest in and the ability for creative expression in visual terms, using skills and techniques of artistic expression consistent with school guidelines; to develop aesthetic understandings and appreciations; to discover and develop talents of students in the field of art.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teaching, tutoring, and preparation of lesson plans for regular Art classes and Art enrichment programs during regular academic day and during enrichment periods.
  • Directing and supervising art showings both on and off campus.
  • Teach knowledge and skills in art, including drawing, painting, lettering, pottery and art history.
  • Legacy project development with outgoing 8 th grade class.
  • Fulfills all administrative obligations including but not limited to student attendance, grading, participate in faculty and staff meetings, and curriculum development.
  • Support supervision during meals/recess.
  • Supervising summer program activities.
  • Participating in the selection of student candidates at the conclusion of the June session. Education and Minimum Experience Required:
    • Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts
