Veit is on the leading edge of construction technology use in the civil construction industry, this role will have the opportunity to work with current and emerging technologies supporting our project teams use of 3D and 2D technologies with a mix of field and office work environments. This position promotes a curious mindset striving to integrate current technologies into our everyday project workflows.
A Day in the Life at Veit
* Prepares 3D models of site plans and conducted surveys for site staking/layout, machine control, quantity reporting, and as-builts.
* Produce quantity reports for project managers and site superintendents.
* Verify site set-ups, calibrations, localizations, and machine measurements for accuracy.
* Perform site calibrations, pre-surveys, progress surveys, and as-builts as necessary.
* Perform Drone surveys, process, and prepare data for deliverable to project team.
* Train, educate, and assist field personnel with the use and operation of GPS and positioning construction equipment.
* Responsible to maintain and troubleshoot GPS equipment.
* Perform site staking and layout as necessary.
* Other projects or duties as assigned by Management.
What You'll Need
* Two years' minimum related experience or related experience.
* MSHA, OSHA-10, and Part-107 drone certifications, or ability to obtain.
* Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 and Trimble software, including Trimble Business Center.
* Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil3D software suite and drone processing software.
* Strong oral and written communication skills. Must clearly communicate directions and information to all levels of management, employees, vendors, and business associates. Speaks effectively before groups as well as individuals.
* Focus on teamwork - ability to continually listen, collaborate, and communicate among colleagues, internal customers, team partners, and exude professionalism.
* Ability to pursue training and development opportunities and show a desire to continuously build knowledge.
* Familiar with heavy construction equipment.
Other
* Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
* Must possess valid drivers license and ability to maintain satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record.
* 50% field work and 50% office work.
* Travel required within Veit's service regions, up to 40% travel expected and could include overnight stays.
* Requires 8 to 10-hour workdays Monday thru Friday, and occasional weekends as needed.
