Our Albany, NY office is looking to add a Dispatch Operator to the team

As an Operator I, you will be considered in training for all aspects of the Operator II role

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and report on the NY Highway system status
  • Share information with department stakeholders and partner agencies
  • Take reports on all bus, rail and aviation incidents in the state.
  • Support the department's emergency response efforts
Education | Experience:

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma / GED or higher
  • Qualifying Experience: Candidates must meet all of the following conditions:

o Traffic operations and/or emergency operations dispatching with at least one (1) of the following groups/agencies: Transportation, Fire, Police, EMS, 911, or similar experience in the Military OR

o Two (2) plus years of customer service or retail experience

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Oral and written communication
  • Computer/software including: MS Office applications, spreadsheets and databases
  • Capable of working with co-workers and NYSDOT staff
  • Using roadway maps, have basic knowledge of roadway elements
  • Able to respond to difficult/evolving problems and situations
