Duty Location: Jamestown, California



Duties

As a Power System Electrician, your duties will include:

  • Working from blueprints, drawings, layouts or other specifications to install new systems or equipment and diagnose and repair trouble in existing electrical systems and equipment.
  • Applying knowledge of various types and sizes of wires/cables, conduits, transformers, and other electrical equipment and circuit elements, and the skill to integrate them into electrical systems and equipment worked on to ensure proper operation.
  • Troubleshooting overhead and underground cable systems to locate short circuits, open circuits, grounds, crosses, electrolysis damage, capacitance imbalance, or cable breaks.
  • Using hot-line tools and protective equipment such as wire tongs, wire tong supports, insulated tension links, tie sticks, insulated hoods/covers and tools, and rubber gloves, sleeves, and insulating blankets.
  • Interpreting circuit diagrams to perform troubleshooting, installation, modification, and repair on high voltage distribution systems (i.e., repairing switchgear and/or isolating defects in cabling).
  • Calibrating and testing circuit breakers and protection relays.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
