Patient Care Assistant (PCA)

Job Summary:

The PCA assumes responsibility for certain technical aspects of patient care as directed by the RN/LPN to include checking vital signs and blood glucose levels, assisting with grooming activities including bathing, hair washing and brushing. Assistants change and clean patients with incontinence garments and bedpans. Patients may require assistance walking, getting out of bed, changing clothing, and eating. Assistants bring patients to other areas of the hospital for testing or procedures.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE:

  • Med/Surg floors – no experience required, however experience is preferred
  • CCU, ER, Float Pool – minimum one year experience preferred
