Marin Country Day School seeks a gifted educator who is passionate about teaching grades K-4 students using a rich and

Overview of

Associate Teacher Position:
Marin Country Day School seeks motivated educators to support elementary classrooms. The Associate Teacher position
is ideal for individuals beginning a career in education and/or in a credential or graduate program. This is a full-time
teaching position beginning in mid-August 2023 and ending June 2024. The position reports to the Division Head and
Assistant Division Head.
Associate Teachers are paired with a teacher in a self-contained classroom of approximately 18-20 students in grades
K-4. The Associate Teacher remains in that classroom for the academic year. Teaching, observing and collaborating with
other teachers, an Associate Teacher is responsible for all aspects of school life, gaining valuable experience.
Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:

  • Meet with classroom teacher regularly
  • Prepare for plan and lead some whole group, small group and individual activities and teaching
  • Prepare for and participate in parent teacher conferences and report card writing
  • Participate in classroom preparation, organization and logistical responsibilities
  • Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that honors and nurtures each child's individual identity
  • Develop warm and respectful relationships with students
  • Identify and respond to individual students' learning differences and creates enrichment opportunities with the
teacher they work with

  • Collaborate with Student Support Services to meet the needs of individual learners
  • Participate in regular team and/or department meetings and weekly faculty meetings
  • Attend Back to School Night
  • Participate in student admission process
  • Supervise students at recess, carpool, lunchroom etc.
  • Chaperone field trips and overnight outdoor education trips in 4th grade.
  • Participate in assemblies and other special events
  • Serve on committees as needed

Qualifications

  • Minimum of an undergraduate degree
  • Desire to pursue a career in education
  • Strong preference for individuals in credentialing and/or advanced degree programs in Education
