Summary

This position is located in a USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service field office. The incumbent assists the Conservation District(s) (CD) within the managerial unit, consisting of at least one county or district, in the development of a comprehensive natural resource conservation program.



Duties
  • Serves as a Soil Conservationist responsible for the overall management of agricultural resources, the formulation and implementation of soil and water conservation plans for all out grants and providing guidance.
  • Develops comprehensive Conservation Plans for District Projects comprising an extensive conservation program.
  • Establish objectives to ensure that those natural resources involved in the program are maintained and improved in the most economical manner possible to the public while assuring that use of these resources.
  • Informs and educates the landowner of conservation technical assistance and financial assistance to consider for conservation system and practice implementation.
  • Monitor Program Payment Schedules to make conservation program payments.
  • Independently provides leadership with conservation planning of natural resources and other activities in cooperation with the Conservation District, tribes, and local, state, and federal conservation partners to address resource concerns.
  • Works with landowners to develop, maintain and implement conservation plans using conservation planning phase I and II.
