Duties

As an Electrician, you will be repairing, altering, modifying, testing, installing and checking all types of electrical equipment and evaluating circuitry required to power the equipment of USCG shore and ship units.

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member for the Coast Guard Team.

Typical work assignments include:

  • Installing, modifying, repairing, maintaining, troubleshooting, testing, and loading new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment.
  • Installing, all types of electrical equipment such as motors, generators, converters, inverters, alternators, frequency modulators, transformers, controllers and switchboards.
  • Installing wire or cables of all sizes and the mechanical protection required by code.
  • Locating grounds, shorts, overloads, and/or other repairs as required.
  • Installing new circuits, distribution panels, distribution panels, transformers, outlets, power systems controls, motors, fire alarm systems and air conditioning systems.
