DESCRIPTION:

St. Paul's School announces a search for a position of Technical Theater Teacher to begin duties in August of 2024. This individual's primary responsibilities will be assisting with all technical aspects of the theater program and other arts department performances. In supporting the arts performances, this teacher will also be available in the afternoon for technical theater practicum.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The faculty member's technical responsibilities will include providing technical support for the community performances, assisting the Director of Theater and the Arts Technical Director. The faculty member is expected to work collaboratively with members of the entire Arts Department (Music, Dance, Fine Arts) and the greater school community.

St. Paul's seeks applications from candidates who will promote the School's commitment to attracting and retaining a highly talented and diverse faculty. A successful candidate will embrace the fully residential living experience and have a demonstrated gift for engaging a diverse student body and strengthening St. Paul's inclusive community. In addition to teaching or administrative responsibilities, faculty at St. Paul's School are responsible for a variety of activities typical to the boarding school environment, including advising, dormitory association, coaching, committee work and other duties.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION : Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in technical theater, theater studies, or a related field.

EXPERIENCE :

Position requires minimum two (2) years of relevant work experience, preferably in a secondary school setting. Preference will be given to applicants who have previously worked with Qlab and who have experience with projection mapping, sound design, set and light design, and carpentry work. The position also requires the use of online resources and other technology to enhance learning, as well as a knowledge and lively interest in pedagogy and the performing arts.

As part of a residential boarding school, the candidate must be interested in working and living with adolescents to support their academic, social, and emotional growth.

SALARY: Competitive, based on experience.
