Summary:



Multi-unit role supporting the territory Optometrists (ODs) and Lead Clinical Assistants (LCAs) by providing guidance regarding best practices to ensure the highest level of patient experience. Collaborate with the Clinical Director (CD) and Territory Director (TD) in identifying opportunities for growth and providing support needed to allow for optimal business excellence. Involved in the hiring, onboarding, training, and mentoring of ODs and LCAs in the Territory

Essential Responsibilities:



  1. Practice Optometry in accordance with the clinical guidelines set forth by the American Optometric Association and the American Academy of Optometry, in addition to any applicable state board statues. Comply with HIPAA policies and maintain complete/accurate patient records.
  2. Practices at each store location at least once annually performing eye examinations and observing patient flow and providing input to maintain efficiencies and promote best practices. Maintains state(s) licensure for territory. Acts as an ambassador and leads by example.
  3. When providing direct patient care, identify, address, and follow-up on all patients' ocular medical conditions and prescribe to those needs and/or refer appropriately to other medical professionals as indicated.
  4. When providing direct patient care, identify, address, and follow-up to ensure all patients' visual life-style needs (spectacles, contact lenses, sun) are meet/exceed.
  5. When not providing direct patient care, monitor patient flow and serve as backup when exam demand exceeds doctor supply.
  6. Responsible for leading and partner with CDs, TDs, ODs, L/CAs, and General Managers (GMs) to drive key success indicators ie. OD retention, chart review completion, slot capacity, OSAT etc.
  7. Lead and guide ODs and L/CAs in developing best practices that allow them to provide the highest quality of patient care as it relates to overall general/ocular health.
  8. Maintain regular communications with all assigned Doctors, L/CAs, and retail colleagues.
  9. Travel to locations and coach ODs and L/CAs on driving efficiency, quality patient care, and best practices through store visits, trainings, and calls.[RP2]
  10. Collaborate and partner with Visionworks store team, including effective communication with all office and store associates to ensure a seamless patient experience.
  11. Daily review and analysis of key metrics, reporting, and dashboards.
  12. Prepare PowerPoints and present material as needed.
  13. Elevate the importance of patient care, patient education and quality of care and service to solve for the belief that everyone can benefit from an annual eye exam and retinal image.
  14. Actively lead process improvement to maintain comprehensive exam requirements while consistently delivering efficient, clinically appropriate eye care. Review key success indicators and identify opportunities to provide support to achieve best practices.[RP3]
  15. Communicate with GMs, OD Scheduler, TDs, and Talent Acquisition team on OD and L/CA staffing needs and participate in the recruiting, interviewing hiring, and onboarding process.
  16. Assists the Talent Acquisition team with onsite networking events for Doctors.
  17. Responsible for onboarding, mentoring, training, and development of ODs and LCAs.
  18. Responsible for conducting chart reviews for all ODs bi-annually[RP4]
  19. Collaborate with cross-functions partners to communicate gaps and provide ideas to optimize clinical functions as it supports patient care and experience.
  20. Provides support in resolving issues in partnership with the TD, GM, and HRBP including Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) and Associate Performance Notices (APNs) for Doctors and Lead Clinical Assistants.
  21. Provides input regarding updates to Clinical Manual and training materials and participates in specialist projects and other duties as assigned.
  22. Review Doctor Time off requests and schedules in partnership with the OD Scheduler.


Experience/Education:

  • Doctor of Optometry degree, O.D. including TPA certificate of licensure.
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical practice experience with current knowledge of Optometric technology and practices.[RP5]
  • Strong communication skills, verbal/written
  • Excellent time management and interpersonal skills
  • [RP6] Supervisory experience or skills in coaching, mentoring, and training preferred


Additional Requirements:

  • Valid, state Optometric license
  • Valid TPA (Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agent) level license in the state of practice
  • Successful completion of background check/credentialing process
  • Use of specialized equipment[CK7] for interpreting and diagnosis (automated equipment, Optomap, Video Slit Lamp, etc.
  • Business aptitude, self-discipline, and the ability to deliver outstanding patient service
  • Collaborate with Clinical Director, General Managers, Territory Director, onsite Optometrists, onsite Lead/Clinical Assistants, OD Scheduler, and Clinical Relations team.
  • Provide a professional workspace without distractions that will permit uninterrupted time with patients and colleagues
  • Provide internet service with sufficient speed to meet upload and download requirements.
