ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PURPOSE (Job Description)
The Pipefitters are responsible for accomplishing work in accordance with work specifications safely, with the highest quality and in a professional manner.
- Basic knowledge of machine and hand threading pipes.
- Be familiar with pipe scribe lines and benchmarks.
- Be familiar with various types of valves (globe, ball and gate).
- Be familiar with various pipe joint designs (P 14 & P 17).
- Must have three years of ship repair experience.
- Must be knowledgeable of the cleanliness levels (I, II & III).
- Basic brazing knowledge (GR III & IV) and #
- Basic knowledge of hand bending simple offsets.
- Advanced blueprint reading (scaling drawings and identifying flaws).
- Must know basic ship repair standard items , 009 71,
- LOKRING MAF fittings.
- Must be able to fabricate custom hangers.
- Be able to understand a WAF and what each block means.
- Be knowledgeable in hydrostatic testing and tank testing.
- Must be familiar with marine chemist tickets and competent person tickets.

Visual Requirements:
Must be able to pass a Standard Jaeger's Test chart for near vision acuity reading J1 letters or equivalent with or without corrective aids and pass a color vision test using Ishihara's Tests for Color Deficiency.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
This position reports to shop supervisor.
This position develops and maintains a positive working relationship with other Pipefitters and supports a team approach in the pursuit of common company goals.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assures that tank/compartment has an updated safe for hot work ticket and that requirements of the ticket have been met
ventilation, lighting, safety equipment etc.).
- Assures that conditions of the tank/compartment have not changed since the ticket was written
fuel run back, unsafe working conditions, etc.).
- Assures that a Work Authorization Form (WAF) ticket is on the job site and that it is for the specific job being accomplished, no work will be accomplished without a WAF posted at location of repairs.
- Assures that any other safety issues are complied with that relate to the specific job being accomplished
special staging, face shields for grinding, protective clothing for hot work related jobs, breathing apparatus with correct cartridges, etc).
- Assures that you are trained or qualified for the work you are assigned to do
JLG, forklift, welding, brazing, special electrical/mechanical repairs and etc.).
- Assures that General Dynamics-NASSCO's Safety Procedures, including testing, are utilized for all torch work.
- Assures that you and personnel working under your direction are working as safely and as productively as possible maintaining quality control at all times.
- Assures that a 30 minute cool down period has been accomplished in hot work areas.
- Assures that fire watches are assigned and maintained in the proper position.
- Assures that the job site is left in a safe and clean condition prior to departure.
ACCOUNTABILITY
Responsible for effective, efficient and safe accomplishment of all assigned tasks.

UNIQUE/ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Regular, reliable attendance on-site is an essential function of the job. Weekend work and/or extended hours may be required. Must be able to access all work locations, including government and private shipyards and/or vessels.
Pay Range:
$ $37.61 per hour
The pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity.
At NASSCO Bremerton we anticipate making salary offers between the minimum and midpoint of salary range.Offers will be based on experience, abilities, and knowledge similar to the NASSCO Job being applied for NASSCO employees performing similar work.
