WHAT YOU LL DOPerform all optical fabrication processes including, but not limited to, coring, curve generating, plano generating, beveling, blocking, grinding, polishing, test plating, optical testing using an interferometer, cleaning, assembly and morePerforms complete set-ups without assistance and operates optical fabrication equipment on assignments of a high degree of difficultyParticular skill and emphasis in the lapping & polishing of spheres is keyInterpret advanced metrology results (micro-roughness, high order figure error, specific Zernikes, and Power Spectral Density), in order to make proper adjustments in process to achieve ever greater resultsExperience with CNC equipment (Optotech, Satisloh, Schneider, etc.) is a plusMust have the ability to improvise if ideal conditions do not existGives assistance and instruction to lower level opticians under the guidance of the area supervisorMaintains work area and equipment in a neat and orderly conditionFollows prescribed safety regulationsUnderstands and follows ISO proceduresReads and interprets technical drawings and process instructionsUnderstands the preparation of and assists in the creation of process instructions as assignedPerform maintenance and preventatives maintenance on equipment and toolingWHAT YOU NEED TO KNOWHS Diploma plus 7 to 12 or more years related work experienceWorking knowledge of shop mathAbility to read and interpret drawingsMechanical abilityAble to use hand measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.)Experience in manufacturing environmentExperience with troubleshooting of processesTeam player with good communication skillsCareful, well organized and detail orientedStrong computer skills including MS Work and ExcelWHAT'S NICE TO HAVEExperience in manufacturing industryWHAT YOU WANT TO KNOWCompetitive benefits401(k)Due to the nature of Zygo s programs and products, applicants must be either U.S.
