Job Description

Primary Objective & Scope of Position:

The merchandising coordinator works as product information manager of the department to maintain quality standards through data management. They consult with the merchandising category allocator to ensure proper inventory levels are maintained and that purchase orders are submitted; correct, and on time. They consult with their manager and the merchandising category buyer to ensure proper information management for creating and maintaining product entries within the database. They also function in conjunction with their manager on special department and company projects relating to collection, reporting, and management of the product database.

Essential Functions and Accountabilities:
  • With merchandising allocators, initiate daily purchase order to product manufacturers to achieve levels of product availability as per company direction.
  • Initiate purchase orders by verifying manufacturers' ordering calendar & schedules, product ordering plan, and past history.
  • Verify purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to manufacturers acknowledgment (quantity, price, date, model).
  • Obtain purchased items by forwarding orders to manufacturers; monitoring and updating arrival dates.
  • Verify receipt of items by comparing items received to ordered; resolve shipment errors with manufacturer.
  • Accomplish purchasing and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
  • Collect, organize, maintain historical data and reporting for other team members (Power BI, etc.).
  • Update and maintain the master product list for company reference.
  • Provide information management of product entries in database to meet quality and consistency standards across all required data fields.
  • Update, correct, and question special order customer product entries to ensure accuracy of products ordered.
  • Respond to company requests in a timely manner via the company's service desk incident monitoring/reporting system.
  • Manage the flow of current and obsolete product between distribution centers and retail locations as instructed by category allocator and buyers (Master Display List new floor model transfers and special purchase take with product transfers).
  • Evaluate, revise, and document data management standards and processes to ensure accuracy & consistency.
  • Train and prepare new employees for this position.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

  • Adheres to safety policies and practices and consistently models safe behaviors and risk reduction procedures
Non-Essential Functions:
  • Maintains a safe and insurable driving record that will allow for driving on company business.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent of product or industry-specific experience.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and ability to work with point-of-sale software.
  • Work effectively with others.
  • High level attention to detail.
  • Add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals. Compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
