Summary

The Lead Inpatient Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist in providing optimal care and timely service in accordance with the mission, vision, and goals of Edward Hines Jr VA Hospital. The Lead is responsible for the guidance, training, and technical direction of all non-pharmacist technical staff and volunteers under the direction of the Pharmacy Supervisor; evaluates and coordinates workflow and technical aspects of pharmacy operations in the designated pharmacy service area



Duties
  • Assesses workload volume; identifies backlogs and makes staffing adjustments as needed to meet organizational goals.
  • Identifies duplication of efforts and develops solutions to streamline processes.
  • Organizes and assists the pharmacy technician team to ensure assigned tasks are completed timely and accurately.
  • Coordinates maintenance and operation of pharmacy area equipment and automation.
  • Promotes positive relationships within the work environment that support the needs of the team and customer.
  • Assists in training and orientating new and existing pharmacy technicians and students on policy and procedures.
  • Identifies and reports developmental and training needs; elevates concerns to pharmacy supervisor as needed.
  • Develops training schedules and assists in maintaining documentation for pharmacy technicians and students.
Work Schedule: 2:00pm-10:30pm, Rotating weekends and holidays and off tour hours as needed for patient care
