Job Summary:

Hydro Extrusion is looking for a motivated and knowledgeable individual to work closely with various departments at our Yankton aluminum extrusion plant. This position will support improvement of the current production processes through respecting our teammates and their safety, supporting new breakthroughs with your skills and personality and achieving assigned goals by collaborating with team members (internal and external) as a key contributor to our established competencies. Responsible for ensuring continual improvement related to process, cost, production and overall quality of the products.

Required Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineer, Industrial Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or related field
  • Requires at least five years of engineering experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Fluent in English with preference for second language (Spanish)
  • In-depth knowledge of SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD software.
  • Mathematical proficiency with a large emphasis in process and manufacturing statistics – SPC, Capability, and GR&R.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
  • Understanding of Casting or Extrusion metallurgy.
  • Proven networking and communication skills with team members
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills on MS Office.
  • Proficiency with Minitab, SmartSheet and Python is preferred.
  • Able to present in high level management meetings.
  • Highly motivated self-starter, enthusiastic, capable of bringing out the best in people.
  • Experience with fabrication and/or industrial painting is a plus.
  • Knowledge and a background in control logic is preferred but not required.
  • Solid manufacturing knowledge and mechanical design experience.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Work with different departments to develop manufacturing expertise in potentially multiple manufacturing processes from molten metal processing/recycling thru to surface treatment/painting of aluminum extrusions.
  • Support business improvement as technical resource for multiple disciplines, such as maintenance, reliability, environmental, sustainability/profitability improvement, quality, etc.
  • Analyze and optimize processes to improve safety, with additional support of 5S and Lean Manufacturing efforts.
  • Develop robust and clear data collection, analysis and presentation tools, from various sources, to enable data driven operational and financial decisions through predictive insights.
  • Use SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD to create drawings for machinery, tooling, guarding, and fixturing.
  • Utilize Lean and SixSigma tools and principles to identify improvements to reduce waste and variation.
  • Utilize project management tools to ensure timely delivery of projects within scope and budget.
  • Identify and participate in the identification and reduction of ergonomic risks.
  • Perform system checks to ensure established system designs are functioning and being executed as designed.
  • Ensures best practices are captured with heavy emphasis on training, documenting, and standardizing work across all shifts for peak performance and results.
