Responsibilities*

Patient Care
Receives and prepares patients for dental treatment. Assembles, sharpens and sterilizes instruments and prepares work surfaces and materials for use by the dentist. Maintain cubicle stock of dental supplies. Enter patient data into the EHR system as required. Assist with Infection Control monitoring of faculty, students, and staff along with quality assurance processes in the clinic. Follow current Infection Control standards pertaining to OSHA and HIPPA guidelines. Dispense and retrieve dental instruments and equipment utilizing a tracking system.

Inspect instrument/equipment packages for completeness upon return Perform routine preventative maintenance on hand pieces, instruments, dental units, chairs and lights.

Expose and process dental radiographs.

Customer Service


Work as a team player either helping or receiving help from other assistants with the objective to expedite patient care Actively work with team members, residents and faculty on training issues and appropriate procedures Display excellent customer service towards patients.


Self Management


Participate in all continuing education courses found to be appropriate for clincal operations and patient care Ability to multi-task, take initiative and anticipate the needs of residents, staff and faculty.


Communication


Help to maintain open lines of communication Report any issues to the Clinic Manager or Director so they may be addressed immediately.

Required Qualifications*

High school diploma and 0-2 years of dental experience. Dental Radiography certification. Current BLS for Healthcare Providers. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to perform a wide arrange of physical activity to include lifting, pulling, bending and manual dexerity movements. Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team setting. Demonstrates active listening, written, verbal and technology skills. Knowledge of HIPPA and OSHA standards and aseptc techniques. Reasonable knowledge of dental clinic practices and procedures. Excellent attendance record

Work Locations

This position is for the School of Dentistry located at 1011 N University.
