The Registered Nurse 2 provides patient-centered care in a culturally sensitive manner following evidence-based quality, safety, and service standards while ensuring personalized patient care. The Registered Nurse 2 supervises nurses and allied health staff in their daily routines.

Up to $25,000 Sign-on Bonus

Work Location: Sylvester Cancer Center

  • Assesses assigned patients and evaluates care plans, documenting nursing care.
  • Reports symptoms and changes in patients' condition and vital signs.
  • Adjusts patient treatment plans based on responses, conditions, and physician orders.
  • Evaluates diagnostic tests and consults with healthcare professionals for patient care.
  • Prepares and assists patients with examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Considers patient age and cultural aspects during treatments, providing necessary information.
  • Creates a compassionate environment by offering psychological support.
  • Conducts patient tests and administers medications within practice scope.
  • Maintains accurate records of medications and treatments, adhering to regulations and orders.
  • Communicates care plans promptly to patients, families, and team members following guidelines like HIPAA.
  • Utilizes best practices for patient care transitions and discharge planning.
  • Adjusts assignments, prioritizes tasks, and seeks help when needed to ensure excellent patient care.
  • Adapts to changing work environments and demands.
  • Operates medical equipment safely.
  • Mentors new staff and provides feedback effectively.
  • Follows University and unit policies, safeguarding assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing school, Bachelor's degree (BSN) preferred. RNs starting with an Associates (ASN) degree must complete the BSN within 2 years.

Certification and Licensing:

  • Valid Florida Registered Nurse License, ACLS, BLS certification required.
  • ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy provider card preferred, or attainable within 6 months.

Experience:

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing school.
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience, ideally in Med Surg, Tele, Surgical Oncology, or ENT.
  • CITI certification required within 3 months of hiring.

Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes:

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and nursing procedures.
  • Understanding of health and safety guidelines, sanitation, and decontamination protocols.
  • Strong patient experience skills.
  • Problem-solving abilities, effective communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in oral and written forms.

Department Specific Functions

  • Completes the Transplant Cellular Therapy orientation successfully.
  • Utilizes therapeutic communication skills with patients and team members.
  • Provides holistic nursing care considering physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs.
  • Demonstrates creativity and critical thinking in problem-solving.
  • Stays updated with treatment modalities and medications used.
  • Participates in patient care, research, and education effectively.
  • Adheres to documentation and safety standards for treatments and therapies.
  • Engages in professional development and role enhancement activities.
  • Participates in unit performance improvement and serves as a preceptor when required.
