Summary

This position is located in Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument in the Maintenance Division. The typical seasonal period for these positions is May thru November, but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: May 2024

Employment may be terminated at any time due to fluctuations in funding levels, project needs, employee performance, or other considerations.



Duties
  • Position is a working leader of a five-to-twelve-person trail crew.
  • Provides input to Maintenance Worker Supervisor on trail work priorities, personnel and training recommendations, and equipment or supply needs.
  • Responsible for daily on-site decisions concerning workflow and assignment and distribution of work for their crew.
  • Checks work while in program and finished.
  • Holds weekly safety meetings.
  • Performs and leads workers in rigging operations.
  • Performs and leads other trail crew workers in masonry work.
  • Operates and instructs others in the proper and safe use and maintenance of a variety of tools.
  • Carpentry tasks includes the maintenance, repair and construction of trail structures.
