Your Role: Benefits and Leave Specialist

Reporting to the Senior Director, Global Benefits, the Benefits and Leave Specialist will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of various employee benefit programs including: leave of absences, group medical, dental, disability and life insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, COBRA, 401k Savings Plan, and plan reconciliations and audits. This role will also support the annual benefits open enrollment process and new hire orientation.

Your Responsibilities:

Serve as the lead person in the delivery of Elanco's leave and disability administration to include:

  • Subject matter expert for leave processes, administers, and tracks all employee FMLA, and/or other similar leaves or absence while ensuring compliance with applicable law and Company policy, serve as point of contact for escalated employee questions related to leaves and disability, facilitate other leave requests, which may include accommodation requests under the ADA, and partner with HR Business Partner and Occupational Health teams on problem resolution

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Support the administration of 401(k) plans, encompassing employee communications, vendor management, annual audits, discrimination testing, compliance mailings, and coordination with external brokers and internal legal teams to ensure adherence to federal and state regulations.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for benefit-related inquiries within Elanco Service Center, managing escalated cases, maintaining thorough knowledge of benefit plans, and overseeing tactical administration of all programs, including new hire enrollments, life event changes, eligibility, deductions, plan options, policy features, claim adjudication, and monthly reporting for accuracy.

What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications):

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in HR, Finance, or similar business discipline or equivalent work experience.
  • Required Experience: Minimum of 3 years of benefits and/or human resources operations experience.
  • Top Skills: Solid foundation and experience in US leave administration; successful experience working with US benefits.
