The Bangor Region YMCA has an exciting opportunity for a seasoned child development professional to manage, direct and grow our Child Development program.

Our Child Development Director must be positive, energetic, flexible and a true leader in every sense of the word. They must have an impeccable work ethic and a solid work attendance history. The Child Development Director oversees the Early Childhood Education and Before and After School programs. Acts as a supervisor, mentor and motivator to the staff and develops and implements high quality, enriching and fun programming for our children.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree or higher in child development or related field.
2. Experience as an early childhood education and before and after school program manager or related fields,

3. Experience with program evaluation using evidence-based practices or ability and willingness to learn these practices.
4. Experience with State of Maine program licensing and safety standards.
5. Must possess the ability to elevate and maintain the highest level of program standards through Maine Roads to Quality.
6. MRTQ level must be a level 5 or higher.
7. Must understand, create and manage program budgets effectively.

Essential Functions

Provide exceptional customer service to contribute to a positive experience for all parents and children enrolled in the Y's Child Development program.
  1. Provide, direction, management, development and quality assurance of the department and its programs including Early Childhood Education and the Before and After School program.
  2. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, motivates, schedules and educates Child Development staff and volunteers. Develops strategies to achieve staffing goals.
  3. Assist the Marketing Director in development and distribution of program information and marketing material.
  4. Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas.
  5. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures are followed.
  6. Develops and maintains relationships with state childcare licensing agencies, school administrations, parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs.
  7. Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints within 24 hours.
  8. Develops, manages and monitors the department budget. Assess and recommend budgeting for facility and equipment needs. J
  9. Provide data and reports on assigned programs in support of the planning process.
  10. Model relationship building skills and the YMCA core values of respect, responsibility, honesty and caring in all interactions.
  11. Serves as a professional representative of the YMCA, provide leadership through example.
  12. Provide leadership and support to the annual fundraising campaign and other committees as assigned.
  13. Function as a primary responder in case of injury, accident or illness and be knowledgeable of emergency procedures.
  14. Ensure program areas, office areas, equipment and supplies are maintained in a professional, orderly, and safe manner.
  15. Maintain current certifications for all trainings necessary supporting the role.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.
