The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians (SMBMI) is a self-governing nation that has established tribally managed governmental units to enhance and support services on the San Manuel reservation. The San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission (SMTGC) is the governmental unit created by tribal ordinance as the primary regulator of gaming within the SMBMI's jurisdiction, including the Yaamava' Resort & Casino. The SMTGC, which includes the Surveillance department, is responsible for maintaining legal and regulatory compliance, ensuring a high level of integrity, and safeguarding Tribal and Casino assets.Under the direction of the Surveillance Operations Supervisor, the Surveillance Agent I is responsible for regulatory enforcement and compliance of established policies, procedures, regulatory publications, Federal, and State laws. The Surveillance Agent I assists in non-gaming asset protection in and around the Yaamava' Resort & Casino and other Tribal buildings or properties. In addition, the Surveillance Agent I ensures procedural violations are documented, potential violations are reviewed, and actively upholds the ongoing safety and security of all guests, and team members while safeguarding enterprise assets. Jurisdiction includes properties owned and operated by SMBMI. Areas of responsibility include the non-gaming areas of the Yaamava' Resort & Casino, and numerous SMBMI remote site locations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Analyzes recorded and/or live surveillance video in non-gaming areas around the Yaamava' Resort & Casino to detect any suspicious and/or illicit activities, which may pose a risk to team members, vendors, guests, Tribal residents or operations.

2. Accountable for conducting observations of non-gaming areas (e.g. lost & found, storages, etc.) and writing detailed and accurate reports, which includes data entry.

3. Responsible for multitasking in between telephone calls and radio communications, collects and logs pertinent information utilizing surveillance software.

4. Works closely and maintains excellent communication with Yaamava' Resort & Casino team members and leadership to gather relevant facts of an incident in order to investigate non-gaming criminal activity, requested reviews, injuries and/or illness claims/reports and safety risks.

5. Performs routine camera patrols of the non-gaming areas within Yaamava' Resort & Casino, as well as the parking structures to ensure the safety and security of team members, vendors, guests, Tribal residents or operations.

6. Conducts extensive reviews and exports video evidence for incidents that occur at other property owned or operated by the SMBMI (e.g. San Manuel Village, San Manuel Commons, etc.).

7. Maintains working knowledge of Tribal Gaming Commission internal controls, policies and procedures in non-gaming areas around the Yaamava' Resort & Casino, Federal and State regulations, and Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS) pertaining to non-gaming areas around the Yaamava' Resort & Casino.

8. Performs camera checks and inputs Surveillance technical work orders or malfunction forms, and reports any other problems pertaining to surveillance equipment, as needed.

9. Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.


Education/Experience/Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or related field is preferred.
  • Must possess intermediate proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook), commercial database systems, and internet research skills.
  • Previous related casino or asset protection experience is preferred.
  • Treats confidential information with caution, discretion and tact.
  • Adapts quickly and professionally to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations
  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
