Summary

This position serves as the Pharmacy Technician in the Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy (CMOP). The desired appointee is a highly skilled technician and works under minimal supervision.



Duties

Functions:

  1. Incumbent reviews data and images to accurately confirm through the use of a secondary confirmation source that the medication image matches the corresponding data.
  2. Incumbent is responsible for maintaining all medication data, image fields and tables in the Medication Image Library (MIL).
  3. Accurately interprets and correctly processes image requests.
  4. Monitors and suggests changes for the improvement of workflow, work methods and priorities.
  5. Incumbent will acquire, properly store, handle and return or dispose of medications according to CMOP policy. Incumbent interacts with logistic personal to achieve these functions when necessary.
  6. Follows written instructions using aseptic techniques when handling medications. The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) shall be used when directed by CMOP policy.
  7. Incumbent follows the procedures for the safe handling and maintaining of camera and lighting equipment.
  8. Incumbent will use standard medication layout and set-up practices to prepare for medication photographing.iIncumbent will utilize standard digital macro photography and lighting practices to accurately capture the important physical characteristics of the medication. Captured images are transferred to the photo editing software for processing.

  10. Incumbent will utilize photo editing software to achieve an accurate standard image. Incumbent will organize, maintain and delete images and image folders following the SOP for editing procedures. The final standard image is then transferred to the MIL program.
  11. Incumbent links corresponding data from National Drug File (NDF) or First Data Bank (FDB), attaches data to corresponding image.
  12. Documents and notifies supervisor/IT support of downtime problems, actions and resolutions for all interruptions in processing that exceeds 10 minutes.
  13. Provides training for technicians, pharmacists, inspectors, students, etc.
  14. Plans and participates in staff meetings to resolve problems and to explain and gain support for MIL policies and goals.
  15. Will assist Director of CMOP in planning new programs or changes in the existing program(s).
  16. As required and/or assigned, the incumbent is expected to cover duties of the GS 5 pharmacy technician.
  17. Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:30A.M.- 3:00P.M. Local Time
