Georgetown Prep's Modern Languages Department is seeking a full-time Chinese (Mandarin) teacher beginning in the Academic Year. This teacher will be responsible for crafting and implementing this new program and incorporating it seamlessly into the school's language curricula. The teacher hired will be expected to work closely with the Academic Dean and the Chair of the Modern Languages department to build a course progression of appropriate scope and rigor for the academic environment at Georgetown Prep, and will be expected to help build this new program from the ground up.

The ideal candidate will have a Master's Degree in a field related to Chinese Language, Culture, or History, or in Education, and will have teaching experience at the high school or college level. In addition, the ideal candidate will have previous experience creating curricula and ensuring vertical alignment, with particular emphasis on experience creating a program in another environment.

Applicants must be knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and willing to teach as a member of a team, in conjunction with the other members of the faculty both in and outside of the department. The ideal applicant also has experience with and/or appreciation for the Jesuit model of education, and the desire to train and care for the whole student in accordance with the Jesuit philosophy of cura personalis. Georgetown Prep requires a commitment to the mission and values of the school, as well as the willingness to contribute to the co-curricular program.

Georgetown Preparatory School, located outside Washington, DC and founded in 1789, is an independent, Jesuit, college preparatory, residential and day school for young men in grades 9-12. Enrollment is just under 500 students. Average class size is 16.
