This is a Direct Hire Open Continuous for Nurse (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) for the Integrated Surgical Services at the Phoenix Indian Medical Center.
Incumbent will care for patients who have undergone surgical operations/procedures: general surgery; eye, ear, nose and throat; orthopedic; obstetrical and gynecological; thoracic vascular, genitourinary interventions, endoscopy and procedural sedation etc.
Duties
- Delivers comprehensive nursing care specific to the age of the patient (adult, geriatric, pediatric, neonate) undergoing a wide variety of surgical procedures, ranging from simple to complex in nature, under both controlled and stressful situations-including on-call hours.
- Documents care provided according to professional standards and hospital policy and assesses the effectiveness of care delivered through a post-operative audit process; modifies care practices based on evaluation results.
- Administers therapeutic measures as prescribed by the physician to include, but not limited to, medication administration, intravenous fluids, and blood transfusions. Operates and monitors specialized equipment such as cardiac monitors, arterial lines, central venous lines and specialized operating room and patient care beds.
- Independently manages patients receiving sedation/analgesia/anesthesia to include anatomy, physiology, pharmacological modalities, cardiac arrhythmia recognition, and complications related to adverse effects of procedural sedation and general anesthesia.
