Job Summary/Basic Function
The department of Computer Science is accepting applications for part-time instructor responsible for teaching undergraduate computer science courses on an as-needed basis. The Computer Science Department at times needs temporary part-time Instructors to fill in for faculty on sabbaticals or leaves.

The purpose of this posting is to generate a pool of qualified faculty. Applications submitted will be reviewed on an as needed basis based on enrollment. Anyone meeting the qualifications may be contacted for an interview and potentially hired when a need exists. In the event that you are interviewed but not immediately hired, your application will remain in the departments pool of qualified faculty.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or closely-related discipline.
Master's Degree in Computer Science (or closely-related discipline) or extensive industry experience in programming or software engineering.
Course work in computer science beyond the level of the course being taught.
Evidence of ability to successfully teach diverse student populations.
Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills.
Evidence of a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Successful interview.
Successful teaching demonstration for class teaching assignments.
Successful completion of three background checks.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in Computer Science (or closely-related discipline).

Job Description
TEACHING AND PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Applicants will teach undergraduate computer science courses in one or more of the following areas: programming concepts, discrete mathematics, data structures, programming languages, operating systems, computational theory, software engineering, networking, computer security, artificial intelligence, or other computer science-related topics. Courses include both a lecture and laboratory component.

Part-time faculty members shall maintain a prorated number of office hours each week, at a minimum of twenty-five (25) minutes for each workload hour taught, at such days, times and locations as will accommodate the needs of the students.
This position requires in-person instruction on Millersville University's campus. This position is contingent upon sufficient enrollments in assigned classes.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:
The 7-member department is housed with modern teaching labs and dedicated faculty research labs. The Department of Computer Science, in the College of Science and Technology, has approximately 200 majors. The department offers an ABET accredited B.S. degree program in Computer Science, a multidisciplinary Data Science B.S., as well as minors in Computer Science and Data Science. Our courses are designed to maximize student engagement and facilitate close faculty-student interactions. All courses are four credits with a lab component, providing ample time for in-depth exploration and project-based learning, as well as allowing faculty to work directly with students on their projects during the lab period.
