Summary

The Fish House Supervisor will oversee the overall operations in fish house area, from receiving the fish through the panning lines and into blast in. Will work closely with the Quality Assurance team and production crew to obtain production goals set by management. Must be self-motivated, pay attention to details, multi-tasking with excellent employee interaction is essential in this position. You will have a large area to supervise with section leads to assist you in obtaining goals and produce first-rate quality of products. Maintains employee time management and prioritize tasks for the crews as a key to a good flow of production operation. You will need to be mobile and effective as you work through your areas of operation.

Essential Functions/Qualifications

The responsibilities of the position include the following:

  • Ensure all employees had given proper training prior to work.
  • Getting the line started on time, make sure all employees are with proper PPE.
  • Do pass down with the outgoing shift supervisor, to obtain important information like, lot code, number of fish running, pounds per hour to achieve, quality of fish, employees concern and areas that needs to address.
  • Oversee whole department break schedules, make sure employees are sent on break in a timely manner, as well as getting them back on the line on time.
  • Must obtain set volume of produced products with excellent quality are top priority.
  • Knows how to identify problems and able to correct them as they occur.
  • Work closely with QA to obtain high quality of produced products.
  • Responsible in the overall operation of the following areas: baskets, hand butcher table, slime lime, incline loader, iron butcher, block pan filler, block fish straighteners area, block racking, graders, pan loader, pan filler, rack pusher, cart tagging, pas' washer, blast-in and pet food.
  • Oversee species sorting, header/gutter output accuracy, straight fish, no folded and overlapping bellies, proper cart tagging – accurate grade/size, deck – fish pick-up, blast-I organization and rack placement in lanes and utilizing sections leads and production crews.
  • Responsible in maintaining the cleanliness of production area.
  • Monitor and evaluate leads job performance.
  • Responsible for the safety of the team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Functional

Ability to speak; read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English for effective communication. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to other employees of Silver Bay Seafoods. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. The employee is required to have effective organizational, team building and interpersonal skills. Should have knowledge of email, spreadsheet software and word processing software.

Interpersonal

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred but not required; 3 to 6 months of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands

Employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. Employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. †̄

Excellent in working as a team with good work ethics, good decision-making skills and is occasionally required to use interpersonal skills, mentoring, problem analysis, training, and supervision skills. Able to multitask in a very stressful and fast-paced work environment. Pay attention to details and have a high level of accuracy, be flexible and stress resistant. The employee will occasionally be required to exercise independent judgment and use discretion. †̄
