Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program.

You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.

Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

Duties

Duties:

  • Provides patient care to Veterans in the areas of Internal Medicine and Dermatology in the form of primary and/or consultative care. Incumbent provides medical diagnostic evaluation and initial assessment of patient which includes focused history, physical examinations, and pertinent
laboratory investigations.

  • Demonstrate sound decision-making skills, both clinical and administrative, which bring credit to the profession and serve to enhance the distinctive and contributory role of physicians.
  • Facilitate the delivery of appropriate patient care in collaboration with other health professionals, medical center staff, and management.
  • Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests necessary to complete required evaluations.
  • Engage in discussions of treatment plans with patients, family members, or other involved parties as appropriate, maintaining COBRA and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Participates as a peer reviewer process when requested.
  • Participates in the rotation as the third call attending.
  • Exhibits leadership in suggesting, and, with approval by the Chief, Medical Service, instituting changes in patient care programs based on current concepts and finding from research and studies. Keeps informed of developments in the management and treatment of diseases and illness through
continuing medical education, both formal and informal.

  • Coordinate patient care with additional consultants, including resources outside of the VAMC as deemed appropriate.
  • Supports the safety, occupational health, and fire protection program by the application of approved standards, regulations, practices, and work methods.
  • Completes all medical record documentation in CPRS within prescribed timeframes.
  • Utilizes problem solving methodologies to resolve problems that impact on patient care or staff performance.
  • Plans implements, and evaluates care based on age specific requirements of the patient.

Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory

CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)

Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided

Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting

Work Schedule: 7:45am to 4:30pm Monday - Friday
