Job Summary

A paid full time lab-technician position in Molecular Biology is available for a student or recent graduate with a strong desire to learn molecular, cellular or neuronal biological techniques in the Cai lab.

Student applicants should at least be in a program to obtain a Bachelor's Degree. Prior experimental experience, biology major or pre-med major is a plus.

Cai lab NIH supported studies focus on three aspects 1) the role of glial cells in modulating neural circuit in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease. 2) the role of glial cells in neuronal metabolism and diabetes. 3) the role of glial cells in dopaminergic neural circuit and motivational behavior.


The work involves modern molecular and cellular biology techniques, such as cell culture, RT-PCR, Western Blots, cell culture and also RNA sequencing, brain surgery etc.

Based on experience and time availability, work may also involve maintain supply and sample inventory, organize lab space, maintain safety documentation, manage chemical and biohazard waste.


Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
MS Windows, Microsoft Office. Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
